Giant walls

Love these goofy toys/dolls from Giant walls. Giant Walls is the creation of Rahul and Yadnyee Gaikwad, a husband wife team that is deeply in love with design, colour, creative expression, and all forms of art unconstrained by material or medium. They also are the brains behind Giant Robot, an urban design house engaged in innovative graphic design, conceptual illustration and motion.

This is my first attempt at a 'personal' lust list . This section will be a curation of items of clothing, art , decor and accessories that I lust for. Forgive my layout, it was created in a hurry on an online editor, if anybody has any design advice for me to make my job easier please write to me! :)

Kya Cheez Hai

The people at Kya Cheez Hai are all about putting the fun into functional .Their first range of Magnets, USBs and paperclips/bookmarks all feature moustaches - an essential of you want to retain any sort of credibility at work. Or not . KCH , is a two people team of designers based out of Bangalore,  who came together to create a range of utilitarian objects that make you smile. Cant wait to see what they do next!

Jayesh Sivan

Bangalore based Jayesh Sivan is currently working as a Graphic Designer and illustrator. Specialized in Brand Identity, Brand Strategy, Brand Architecture, Illustration and Photography , hi line of hand drawn, customized 'funk flip flops' are inspired by his travels, sketches and photographs. SODA is a stylish, bold, quirky and fun lifestyle brand that will electrify your interiors with its riot of colours and innovatively designed furnishing.SODA was started by Sai Sangeet Paliwal as it gave her the creative freedom to play around with her unique ideas of space-definition and design, while breaking away from the stereotypical monotony of contemporary design houses. Sangeet and SODA have a bubbly and energetic dialogue together, and in turn, the brand is an extension of her expression. 

Dipika Vijay - Coyote

Dipika Vijay designs sterling silver jewels and acrylic accessories under the label 'Coyote'.

'Coyote ' is species of wild wolves. Also slang for a sexy women. "I loved the name because it has character, certain kind of wildness attached to it." , says Dipika. She has been design jewelry ever since she graduated from NID, Ahmedabad.

Cheap Sex

Founded in January 2010… Cheapsex Boxers , India’s first unisex graphix boxer shorts label was thus born. A product of the whimsical duo, Brijesh Dahiya & Kuldeep Singh, the label today is synonymous with kitsch gone kinky and  twisted humor. As much as the world is over populated with people who try too hard at making beautiful clothes (with few succeeding!!)..we really needed somebody who tried equally hard at making sure there is much respect still in our lives for cheap thrills and smaller bills.

Anuj Sharma

Anuj Sharma's  design philosophy in a single word would be 'simplify'. His clothes are an exploration in simplicity of form, design and fabric. While this may sound a little clinical , the results are a stunning line of clean cut silhouettes . Sharma uses his signature single piece of cloth to fashion quirky and interesting drapes. In this collection ' Button Masala' , he creates structure and embellishment with rubberbands fastened to buttons. Genius!

Shahid Datawala : Karborised

"Shahid Datawala debuts a men’s line of limited edition shirts for which he draws on his pool of matchbox labels. He teams kickass graphics with suitably kickass colours and some nifty design details.And that was that; Karborisedwas born.Each of the nine prints are available in two style variations (short and long sleeves) and  two size variations.

An enthusiastic Datawala says, “I like colour and flair in my clothing,and I’m more than certain that there are several men who feel similarly. Lokesh Karekar : Locopopo

Lokesh Karekar's artistic skills are nothing short of superb. This J.J. Institute of Applied Arts alumnus knows a thing or two about design. One look at his stylized Indic script illustrations or even the rendering on his desi-hip  brand locopopo, is all you need to be convinced of this fact. In a sublime mix of austere line drawings and intensely hued folksy vectors, you see a glimpse of Karekar's visual identity. When quizzed about what inspires him, Lokesh dutifully pays tribute to his city Mumbai , amongst other things. Click here for an interview.

Kalyani Ganapathy : Kye

"In the sultry south Indian state noted for its excellent frothy filter coffee, ‘Kye’ means hand. It’s a rather quirky name, we think. And it’s certainly the shortest word that captures everything we stand for, and everything i do. I, Kalyani am the only designer here at Kye. At Kye i  paint stories, incidents, dreams, sounds, sights, just about anything and make them into objects for use. Though my work comes from no particular school of art, every piece of art is handmade, unique and done by a single hand. That’s why we call it the labour of love! It’s just something i do straight from the heart.", says Kalyani Ganapathy of Kye.
